	This next series of paintings are the ongoing series of "State Tree" paintings. The originals are large mixed media paintings on canvas.  Each one develops differently.  I began this series to honor the trees of our country and to remind everyone of the importance of trees for our health and the health of our land. Each painting incorporates something of the beauty of the landscape of that state.  A portion of income from these is donated to environmental organizations. 	Title: "Illinois-White Oak"© 09/2007,  original painting on canvas size 48 by 34 inches State Tree series; The state is surrounded by three rivers, including the Ohio and the Mississippi Rivers and by Lake Michigan on the northeast. Silk is used to depict these waters. The beautiful White Oak overlays the state.  This is the only painting with the county lines filled in like a patchwork quilt.  Plowed and planted fields look like a quilt from the air.  Details of the oak are at the bottom.  The 72 name on this one is Foresight, Long-Range Vision.  Prints are available and size up to the size of the original.  See the Prints page.

	Title: "Arizona-Palo Verde"© 05/2006,  original painting on canvas size 40x30 State Tree series;  Arizona is noted for its unique desert flora, the Grand Canyon, among other things.  The Palo Verde tree has green bark which performs photosynthesis. The leaves fall off shortly after opening to prevent water loss. This painting has texture, acrylic, pastel, and an agate. It is coated with a sealant to preserve the pastel on the surface. 	Title: "Texas, Pecan"© 05/2005,  original painting on canvas size 44x58 State Tree series;  The Texas state tree is the Pecan.  There are many beautiful natural areas in this large state. 	Title: "New York, Sugar Maple"© 08/2004,  original painting on canvas size 36x48 State Tree series;  New York's state tree is the sugar maple, so this painting has many bright fall colors.  There is much variety in this large state. 	Title: "Alaska, Sitka Spruce"© 08/2004,  original painting on canvas size 36x48 State Tree series;  Alaska's many colors represent the many varied regions and climate of the great state. Denali almost obscures the state outline. The brilliant colors near the bottom represent the lush gardens and flowers of the interior. The deep blue is the color of the glacier ice, also gold and the rainforest areas are represented in the lower portion of the painting. A beautiful deep blue agate slice is in the lower right corner. 	Title: "Missouri, Dogwood"© 08/2004,  original painting on canvas, size 36x48 State Tree series;  Missouri as with the other state tree series has the outline of the state and the county lines delineated.  Since dogwood is a spring tree, this  painting is bursting with spring colors, the green, pinks and white of the trees!  Acrylic and 2 polished stones complete the painting. 	Title: "Ohio, Buckeye"© 08/2004,  original painting on canvas, size 40x40 State Tree series;  Ohio depicts the leaves of the buckeye tree, but the large trunks give a nod and honor to the ancient forests remaining in parts of Ohio.  The trunks are of fabric, burlap and papers.  Acrylic and oil pastel finish the details.
